3. Open build.prop and edit it
add these on the end of it

persist.service.swiqi.enable=1

4. Download terminal emulator from Market and follow the following steps

su
busybox chmod 0755 /system/etc/be_photo
busybox chmod 0755 /system/etc/be_movie
busybox chown 0.0 /system/etc/be_photo
busybox chown 0.0 /system/etc/be_movie

5. Reboot the device.

Works with gingerbread roms only. (No support for froyo)

Did you actually check if the mod worked??
Like did you compare screenshots of before and after?

I've done the same and i dont think it worked. The images look exactly the same.

Am i missing something?

Yes I compared it and found a slight difference in image quality. Images seem to be more sharper then earlier.

I cannot see any change when I install it.
My rom is 2.3.4 DEFY+ ROM.

just making the terminal emulator part a bit easier:
type:

su
#cd /system/etc
#chmod 755 be_photo
#chmod 755 be_movie
#chown 0.0 be_photo
#chown 0.0 be_movie
and: ls -l to check if you've done it right.

Supercurio said it doesnt work, it doesnt even has a service running. Thats why some people notice the "difference".

what Rar extracter do you use?

I wanted to extract the RAR using Root explorer but then i remembered it does not support RAR files so i downloaded AndroZip File manager to extract. I don't like using 10 file managers since Root explorer is the one i use everyday. What do you use?

I wouldn't get to excited about this BE...

Like I've just replied to someone on the main CM7 thread, I'm far from convinced that this is actually doing anything.

You might also be interested in reading this post and this one.

The before/after pictures available on the net are probably all coming from Sony phones that natively have Sony libs and services required by BE; which seems to finally be more than just the 2 files + 2 lines in build.prop from this 'tweak'.

Apparently, you cannot use the power menu screenshot to see the before/after difference; one has to use another camera and actually take a picture of the phone.

That also makes it almost impossible to do the comparison without using 2 phones (1 with mod and 1 w/o) side by side in 1 shot.

But if it works for you...go ahead and enjoy.

I will just wait for a more solid proof on all this because the improvement is a very minimal/slight contrast change anyway...

the bravia is working fine now on SGS2. u can check it at http://ykkfive.blogspot.com/2012/01/sgs2-gallery-sony-bravia-engine-demo.html and a demo is available about a week ago ;P

more, it's working for the wallpaper as well http://ykkfive.blogspot.com/2012/01/sgs2-wallpaper-sony-bravia-engine-demo.html

Perceived difference means nothing! Show us proof!

    hi

if you are talking about stock rom, you can read the screenshots below:

    http://ykkfive.blogspot.com/2011/12/sgs2-gallery3d-with-sony-bravia-engine.html - SGS2 Gallery3D with Sony Bravia Engine previews

http://ykkfive.blogspot.com/2012/01/sgs2-wallpaper-sony-bravia-engine-demo.html - SGS2 wallpaper Sony Bravia Engine demo

and as i said, the screenshots taken are identical to those taken in sony's gallery on the my SGS2, including file size or crc, md5 sums, etc
