As Swanny said, all Kies processes must be disabled. When I flash also disconnected from net and disabling firewall, antyvirus, sandbox and whole unneeded processes which may interrupt Odin. Its a priority.

Try to flash only kernel - Siyah or another with cwm via odin. If it succeed than try wipes.

I suppose you have tried alredy to decrypt nand by phone settings? It is first thing that should be done.

Probably not relevant but try it anyway. Open task manager and click PROCESSES and search through so all KIES apps are closed (KIESPDLR KIESTRAY) etc and try again.

thanks, but i already uninstalled samsung kies.. but still no luck :(

If phone is booting your current rom, go to settings and check if encryption option is set. If it is enabled than turn it off.

If this will not help or your phone is not booting up properly than try to flash Siyah kernel as pda in odin, dont change any other option, just select pda (.tar file) and flash:
Siyah-s3-v1.5.tar - 6.90 MB

Try to run your phone in safe mode and see it behavior with browser etc.

To do that turn off your phone. Now press the power button and imidiately keep pressing menu button (this touch button on the left from home button) until desktop is showed.

It should display 'safe mode' on the bottom-left corner of the screen.

Safe mode has deactivated all third apps installed and run only those from system/app which means stock state.

In app manager you can remove all apps which may cousing a problems.

Had this the other day funny enough.

Reinstalled use driver with phone removed, plugged phone back in whilst in Download mode and with Odin running and it all worked.

Never installed or used Kies myself. Just download individual driver package and that's all.

Hope this might help you!

Probably the NAND storage is faulty... that's why Odin can flash anything. May be... I am just guessing by lookin at the current circumstances.

Yes, propably faulty nand, but repair is very expensive ca. 250€ He must try every possible way to resurrect the phone.

Some people reported that using old Odin version, 1.85 or even 1.3 can help. Worth a try.

Try one more thing, set mx.pit as pit check repartition an UNCHECK autoreboot. Flash only pit. If it finish with success dont reboot your phone and do not disconnect it from Odin. Set this time pda, modem and csc (without repartition) and try to flash.

If it fail than its mean propably damaged nand and only service center will help (maiboard replace).

There is an option to flash only param.fs file as pda but i never tried this metod.

It is XEO (Ost Europe) version but if flashing will be succesfull than you may flash anything you want after that. Only csc or whole newest one file firmware.

You must be aware that partitionning is not recommended. There is always small chance to screw something but in this case it seams like your last hope.

Personally I never had any problems with .pit (sgs, sgs2,sgs3), but s**t happens.

I don't think it has anything to do with one's inability to read, like you I have several success stories with rooting, it's just that sometimes issues may be experienced as a result of other things persons do with their phones that we are not aware of.

I found this problem with my current Galaxy S3 and my old Galaxy S", because boith of them where bought from china.

The solution is fairly easy.

Just do this.

Open the tar file of the official odin update. in my case the file is named: I9300XXDLH7_I9300OXADLH7_I9300XXLH7_HOME.tar.md5. To open this file you have to remove the MD5 extension and leave it as .tar. This has to be done because odin when do the firmware flash it doest a md5 checksum on the file if it has the md5 extension, if not, it just ignore that step.

When you open the file , you have to remove from them, the Modem and both bootloaders files, they are. modem.bin, sbl.bin and boot.bin, if they exist. Some dstributions doesn´t contain any updates on the bootloaders and modems so maybe they are not there.

When you remove them, start the flash using odin and everything should go ok.

After you flash (or before, the order doesnt matter), you can flash modem.bin but not using odin, you can use mobile odin or you can use Clockworkmod recovery or something else besides Odin, because these cell phones has some sort of region codes that lock the flash of foreign firmwares.

I do this steps everytime that a new rom cames out and everything works PERFECT.

I hope it help you.

This does seem to make sense, But these region specific codes, are they hardcoded into the device? What if we use a three part firmware with as well as repartition the device? Would this allow us to circumvent this limitation? I currently have an I9300 from China Unicom, and I would like to be able to flash a different bootloader, and I am not sure how to do that. I want to change the bootloader since the phone always boots up with the China Unicom logo.

I am in same boat so would welcome any other ideas, but its seeming more and more like a nand failure

already try with 1.85 no luck already try with different pc still same i can flash another s3 but i can not flash this phone.

1-stop kies (if it is installed) before trying to use odin
    2-try reinstalling the USB drivers
3-try with the stock SGS3 USB cable if you tried with another cable
4-try on another USB port on your computer
    5-try on another computer

If none of this work, it seems that your phone has a R/W corrupt NAND and you will probably never be able to flash it

You don't have i9300 so go away and leave oooollllld threads in peace ;)

Sent from my GT-I9305 using xda app-developers app

I had a similar problem, my phone just froze in the middle of a phone call, had to pull out battery, and when i tried to turn it on, it wouldn't pass the second "SAMSUNG" logo, just stayed there forever, with the blue light (Official JB 4.1.2 - not rooted)... Anyway, after 3 days of trying, downloaded bunch of firmwares, but all of them gave me the infamous "Complete(Write) operation failed". This is how I MANAGED to revive my i9300 16Gb Int:

1.Open ODIN, load ONLY the pit file corresponding to your phone (In my case i9300 16Gb Int'l - GT-I9300_mx_20120220.pit), check "Repartition" and "F.Reset Time" and hit "Start".
    - If this step goes OK (All threads completed. (succeed 1 / failed 0))

    2. Click on the "Reset" button in Odin (or close and re-open it), in PDA select "recovery-cwm-touch-6.0.1.2-i9300.tar", make sure only "F.Reset Time" and "Auto Reboot" are checked, and flash it. If everything goes OK, you should now have CWM instead of Stock recovery.

    3. Take any microSD card, any size, and put THIS file on the root of the microSD using a card reader or whatever you prefer - but be careful, copy the zip as it is - do not unzip it.

    4. Insert the memory card in the phone, enter recovery*, and select "Install zip from External Storage" and choose the file you put on the root of the card (by the way, it's a 4.0.4 downgrade bootloader), it should flash in a second, the phone will restart, and that's it!

    5. Download and flash 4.0.4 Stock FW using Odin (i used "I9300XXBLH1_OXEBLF1.zip"), everything should go OK, and the phone will be bootable again.

*(my phone didn't wanted to enter recovery the old fashioned way using 3-button combo, but i managed to enter recovery from charging mode, by connecting the charger on a switched off phone, and as soon it starts charging press Vol Up + Home + Power, and when the FIRST Logo (Galaxy S III GT-I9300) appears, let go of the power button, keep pressing the Vol Up + Home, and it enters recovery).
