I have a phone that I'm helping someone with, and they have locked themselves out of it. They are getting the "Too Many Invalid Pattern Attempts" error and logging in with GMail is not working. Normally, I would use the 3-button combo to factory reset the phone, but the 3-button combo doesn't work on this particular I9000. So with no way to get into the phone to enable USB debugging, no 3-button reset, does anyone have any ideas on how to get them back into this phone?

Some users reported that entering the password "null" (without the quotes "") worked.
Others reported that by calling your number answering it by pressing the options key (bottom-left key)-> Sim Services -> Back Button or Center can give you access to settings and then you can disable the Unlock Pattern.

If none of the above work, you will have to flash it
Good luck.

I'll go ahead and try those suggestions. If they don't work, is there a way that I would be able to flash the phone? I cannot get it into download mode because the 3 button combo doesn't work, nor can I reboot it into download mode using ADB because USB debugging is not enabled and I can't enable it if I can't get into the phone. What kind of workaround is there for this?

Make yourself a jig cable it will force the phone into download mode
