I purchased Galaxy 5G Mobile Wi-Fi SCR01 router from Japan, my SIM supports 5G and we have coverage of 5G network all over the place in my country.

I have entered the correct APN and currently can only get 4G connection.

I can access the "service mode" but I need you to help me to get 5G working. I really appreciate your help.

I just need to be guided where to go in Service Mode and what to select/change. I am available for your instructions and can provide any screenshots you might be needed. I just want to enable 5G signal.

Is it because this router was made for the Japanese market and therefore uses CDMA? I don't know really!

I successfully activated 5g in Asia, I believe you can too. If you have any questions, please contact me again
My friend, I really don't know how to thank you, it worked as you said. I was struggling for about a month and was thinking to sell or return the router, but I think now I will keep it.

If you have any other tricks to make this router performs at its best it would be great.

Many thanks 🤞

There is no way to root this phone, so there is no way to improve performance. I just use it as a mifi. If you want to use a proxy, you can download everproxy to set the ip. I actually have some software that locks the bands, if you don't have them, you can download and use them. Here is the link:download. That's all, I wish you a happy use.And if you are able to root this device in the future, please be sure to contact me again~

@molexs the main purpose of having this router is for mifi usage only and I don't have any plan to root it, but locking to a specific band might be useful but I don't know how to install apps on the device, is it straight forward?

First of all, you need to install a launcher for your device to use the Android system. Install the Nova launcher APK through ADB and make it the default launcher. After entering the Nova launcher, I believe you should know how to install APK.

I have the same problem - it won't connect to 5G. But I am unable to use the solution that is described in this thread because I don't know how to access the Service Mode for this device, as it has no dialing field, or some other field where I can put in a code to access Service Mode. Is there anyone here that can help me, please?

First, click the menu->about->status on the main interface, and quickly click "phone number" 10 times. Then you will enter the DRP mode. At this time, enter "* # 0011 #" to enter the service mode. If you have any questions, you can contact me again

Hi, and thanks a lot! So far, so good. I have now accessed the Service Mode, but - as a very inexperienced man regarding these matters - I don't know what to select in Service Mode for accessing the list setting, and what to do about than when "list settings" occurs on the menu. Can you please guide me by hand to the solution?

Or more precisely: How to find "list restrictions"? And how to cancel them? And please, I think I need a step by step guide for the process of beeing able to get 5G!

Well, it's very simple. In the service mode interface, click the menu in the upper right corner, click "back", and then click "key input" to enter "Q". After several seconds, the main menu will automatically enter. Click UE setting - setting - protocol - NR - allow list control - then select "off", and 5g has been unlocked. However, you need to click "nr5g SA / NSA mode control" again and select "SA / NSA enable". After restarting the device, you will find that 5g can be used.

Thanks a lot again! I think I have placed the "Q" correctly. But which "main manu" will so appear? The Service Mode main menu? If so, I could not find the "UE setting" to be clicked, and so on. I am so sorry for me being so inexperienced but I would be very glad to be guided again, please!

You need to click "back" once, then click the key input to enter "Q", wait for a few seconds, the following menu will appear, and then follow the steps I said before.

I have compiled an instruction for those who want to set-up their newly purchased SCR01:

    A. Setting up your device.

    1. Upon first boot, you will need to setup your device in Landscape mode. Choose your language first then tap "Ok" then tap "Start". On the 2nd page tap "Continue".
    2. On the 3rd page, choose "Plus Area (+A)" and tap "Next". That way it will also search for bands in a wider area. Otherwise, if your signal in your area is strong, choose "Standard (ST)".
    3. On the 4th page, choose "Optimized Mode" and tap "Next". High Performance mode heats up your device too quickly and Eco mode doesn't utilize 5G and only uses 4G/LTE.
    4. On the 5th page, just tap "skip".
    5. On the 6th & 7th page, you will need to setup your Wi-Fi. But first, you will need to change your keyboard language and layout.
5.1. Tap the SSID first so a keyboard will pop-out.
5.2. Tap the "Gear Icon" on top of the keyboard screen to go to the Keyboard Settings.
    5.3. Tap "Languages & Types">"English (US)" & choose "Qwerty".
5.4. Tap "Manage input languages" and de-select "Japanese".
5.5. Optional: Tap back 2 times and de-select "Predictive Text" then tap back to go back to Wi-Fi Setup
    6. On the 8th page, select a screen lock type & tap "Next".
    7. On the 9th page, select if you want your Wi-Fi to "Turn off automatically" or "Don't turn off automatically & tap "Next".
    8. On the 10th page, select if you want to use battery protection and tap "Next".
    9. Reboot if you choose to disable battery protection.

    B. Setting up your APN/Access Point Names

    1. Swipe up your device
    2. Go to "Hamburger Icon>Communication Setting>APN".
    3. Go to "3 dot menu" and tap "Add".
    4. Input your carrier's Name, Access Point Name, Username, Password, Authentication, PDN & tap "Save" then tap Save again
    5. If you have another Carrier, remove your current SIM Card and replace it with your preferred one & repeat step's B1 to B4 again.

    C. Unlocking 5G Mode for Non-Japanese Carriers

    1. Swipe up your device
    2. Go to "Hamburger Icon>Status" and tap "Phone Number" 10 times.
    3. Type *#0011# to go to ServiceMode.

**Remember, on the ServiceMode if you want to go back to the previous menu, tap the "3 dot menu" and tap "Back"**

    4. Go to "3 dot menu" and tap "Back" and tap "Key Input" then type "Q" and tap "Ok".
    5. Tap "UE SETTING & INFO>SETTING>PROTOCOL>NR".
5.1. On "NR CONFIGURATION", tap first "ALLOW LIST CONTROL" & tap "ALLOW LIST OFF". A message will show "Apply Success" then go back to "NR CONFIGURATION".
5.2. Going back to "NR CONFIGURATION", tap "NR5G/NSA MODE CONTROL" & tap "SA/NSA ENABLE". A message will show "Feature Apply Success, Please reboot".
    5.3. Reboot to apply setting.

    D. Enable USB Debugging
    1. Swipe up your device
    2. Go to "Hamburger Icon>Status" and tap "Phone Number" 10 times.
    3. On Developer Options, tap to enable "USB Debugging".
