... I already have 2.1Update1, but it still asks me to upgrade.
You must have been on 1.15.405.x which is what came with all desires
1.21.405.2 is an update to fix things like battery life ect. but still eclair

You must look at build number in about phone, not andoid version.

42turkeys can I get the FroYo update if I am on 1.21.405.2 and rooted using Unrevoked's method?

... I already have 2.1Update1, but it still asks me to upgrade.

I'll explain this more clearly 2.1Update1 is Googles version number for the latest release of Eclair. HTC have release 2 versions of this:

1.15.405_4

and

1.21.405_2

The second has some bug fixes (probably to HTC stuff, sense etc), so it is STILL 2.1Update1.

Hence, if you are using 1.15.405_4 then you have Android 2.1Update1, and you will be offered an update to 1.21.405_2, which is also Android 2.1Update1.

This has already been discussed in this thread, and has been used to test the upgrade check script works correctly.

If I'm on 1.21.405.2 and rooted using Unrevoked's rooting program can I get the update?
Bump this post! If I have to I'll unroot it!
as nobody seems to read what's BOLD and RED everywhere, then:
UNROOT IT
UPGRADE TO 2.2, IF YOU RECEIVE OTA
START CRYING BECOUSE YOU CANNOT ROOT IT AGAIN, MAYBE FOR A LONG TIME, MAYBE FOREVER...

just one thing: cry in a corner of your room, with a dumb hat on your head... and don't come back here to do this...

rude? YES, but many of you are just crashing nuts without even taking the time to read what other posts...

i remember my first time using linux, and the usergroups:

noob 1: how can i list directory content?
me: ls

noob 2: how can i list directory content?
me: ls

noob 3: how can i list directory content?
me: ls

noob 4: how can i list directory content?
me: rm -rf .

after a while:
noob 4: hey, but that erased me everything!
me: well, you learned 3 lessons: trust only yourself, use the search function, read (A LOT) before you post...
