But you wrote the same file for the SPL and the radio - thought they required different recoveries?

Regardless I've tried with both but simply nothing happens. Phone won't reboot after the image is sent, it remains in the RUU USB screen. :(

Yes, I did, and you are correct. The second should have been the sapphire recovery ending in H.

Okay, if you are in RUU USB screen, then try ADB shell.

No luck:

c:\AndroidSDK\android-sdk-windows\tools>adb shell
adb server is out of date. killing...
* daemon started successfully *
error: device not found

The phone is unlocked, I'm with 3 and the phone was bought from there. It's got the HTC logo on the front and back. As far as I can tell I've only flashed PVT 32A stuff, this is what it shows in the screen (see attachment).

I don't have a simcard in the phone though as it's in my new (and working :p) phone. Didn't think it'd matter?

So what if i DID flash PVT 32B by mistake - any chance of sorting that out?

okay, if your gold card is good, then you've gone down every avenue I can think of. I admire your tenacity.

I'd just put it in a drawer and watch similar threads for a better outcome. Maybe at some point a solution will present itself.

I'm not 100% about the gold card, and as a matter of fact was thinking to test with the 4Gb Sandisk I got with the Desire but never actually got around to it.

Have to admit I've rather lost oversight now - if I try and make a gold card with the 4Gb Sandisk disk, what should I then attempt next after that? I've kind of lost track of where exactly the gold card fits in....

Otherwise I agree with your drawer suggestion m8 ;)
Either that or I
a) hand it in to the company it was bought from and see what happens from there (flashing? who, me?)
b) sell it on the local ebay as is and with problem description with a starting price of 1 SEK (about 10 pence), perhaps somebody else has better luck/knowledge or wants to play around with the JTAG trick
c) purchase another Magic that's working but has other faults (there's one on eBay that would fit the bill - works but screen is cracked) and make one working phone of the both. Don't know if it's much work to swap screen though. Plus it's on Vodafone, but if I understood correctly that can be sorted by proper flashing ;)

Thanks to all you guys as well for continued support and throwing in suggestions!

I am willing to try with the other memory card but would have te get a push in the right direction as to what to do with it....

If you want to take another stab at a gold card, try RUU flash of the euro rom with the exploit once more. Again, format the gold card in the desire, then obtain the serial number in the desire, and once you get the new image write it from the PC with the hex editor while the card is mounted from the desire.

If that fails, Your "ebay" option c sounds good. Just make sure it's a 32A board - it runs a lot better. Get one cheap enough and take care to follow a good guide to disassemble and reassemble the two phones.

Allright will give it a try tomorrow - off to bed now.
Was just playing about a bit - first flashing zip rom1.zip so the phone has a fastboot and hboot again, then I copied the rom.zip to the SDcard and renamed it sappimg.zip - it reads it and asks me if I want to flash. But obviously when I do so I get the same result again - as soon as update of the radio starts the screen blanks out.

The order of the update is:

1) Boot-loader
2) Radio_V2
3) Hboot

Is there any way to change this order so I get an update on the Hboot?

I'd need a sappimg.zip file based on version 3.05.401 or newer (although I do think the other 3.xx versions work as well) and with an engineer SPL - and preferably like the rom1.zip files, i.e. without the radio. That way I could flash over all but the radio, but then having an engineer SPL I could try to flash the radio separately afterwards perhaps.

Hrmmm

An update for all who have been following this topic and posting replies trying to help:

I took the phone to the shop it was bought from and had it sent in for repairs. The entire mainboard was replaced and the repairs were covered by the warranty

Gave the phone to the mrs now since I got a Desire in the mean time, and her W995 was due to be sent in for repairs to the system conector.

Leaves me wondering whether the phone died by my hands or if it did so by itself due to a hardware fault though
If anybody feels brave have a go and attempt to re-create my problem and see if it can be solved ;)

Again, is it bricked? ☺

Hello!

I have the same question as the topic starter had.
I bought my phone flashed with a Hero ROM because I wanted SenseUI, as HTC released Magic's ROMs with Sense I was trying to install it, but it was totaly denying any attempt to connect it to HTC Sync (RUU didn't see it too). Accidentally I saw the "home + power" (or vol. down + power) buttons trick and thought "factory reset" will send it to the state it initially was, i.e. with the Magic ROM it has after it producing. Obviously it was a bad move, so now system cycles badly on booting and I can't use fastboot because USB debugging was off. Can I flash it with some ROM or is it totally bricked?
I tried flashing some CM stables, but it denies it on verification, saying they "unsigned" ☹. I hoped I can store update.zip on SD, then wipe device and apply update.zip, but it won't work so simple. Could you give me some advice, please?

Fastboot screen says this.
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT-1.33.0009 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-3.22.20.17

Thanks in advance!
