I have arranged replacement of my handset also, but I need to get my hands on the sbl1.

Must be someone out there with a rooted device with a zero custom firmware count????

Hi

Any progress on a fix for the buttons? Do any of you guys think you CAN fix the buttons? If I can't figure out how to make my phone usable soon I will need to take it back as it's kind of junk at the moment

Is there anything I can do to help?

cheers
Tim

Having the back/menu keys problem

Hi everyone, i recently picked up a samsung galaxy s2 4g.

I rooted via the instructions on this thread: http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1340526

After rooting i experienced the issue of my back and menu buttons no longer working.

I have since recovered back to the stock telstra firmware - but my buttons still DONT work.

I have also tried entering the keys: *#*#2663#*#* and *#*#86824#*#*
and updating both of their firmware - with no success.

I am willing to do and ADB debugs or whatever anyone needs.

Hey guys,

Thought you'd wanna know i have been playing with the T989 ROMS.

Just installed the SlickMOD supreme 3.5 and it worked.

Link here to ROM: http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1596790

Take note of instructions. Also the bottom buttons didn't work until after a reboot or two..

Trying other ROM's too. Will let you know if i find a ROM worth keeping. So far SlickMOD is the only one.

DO A NANDROID BACKUP. SAVED MY BUTT MANY TIMES!!!!!!!!!

sweet! im going to install SlickMOD ASAP then!
ive heard a lot of good things about it

Before anyone gets too carried away, I am nearly convinced it is the recovery image that is killing the touch keys.

Be very careful about what you flash.

I think the 5.5 touch recovery for the 727 is OK, but the 5.8 one in this thread is dangerous.

No conclusive proof yet, but I am working on that.

Damn shame I have a real job too!!

I can confirm CWM 5.8.1.3 works fine. (sometimes require a further reboot if you have rebooted from CWM)

I did manage to get a ICS rom to work with softkeys. Calls did not work at the time so i needed to flash back. I would have got some data for you otherwise.

We're seeing some progress. Please let me know if I can help any further.

be careful about saying this, did you try doing a backup with CWM? that seems to be what kills it. Mine worked for a while just fine until I booted back into CWM and did a backup

Fair call!!

I've done about 6 backups (different roms), however, I did do my first backup with an earlier, non touch version.

Any ROM I have installed, I have then backed up the boot.img from my stock rooted rom to get the softkeys working. Evidence has shown that this method, for whatever reason does not work on every device.

If anyone has doubt, then wait for the official ICS update. At that point I believe more DEV's will jump on board for this phone.

what's happened to the guys here working on a fix? I'm anxiously holding out waiting to be able to use my phone again :(

It is slow work due to low development support. It seems there are a few problems pin pointing the main culprit of this issue; Recovery, boot, firmware, radio, etc. all of these need to be broken down and compared with the stock ROM.

If you have not tried any of the sugestions in this thread, please try them.

At the end of the day, with respect, you flashed your device. No one on this forum is responsible for that. Please be patient. :)

Well I'm gunna wait patiently now that I've started to like the phone, something about it :)

One warranty return will be enough :p

My ideal dream to see the phone at:

Customised OC/UV kernel, voodoo sound
ICS
Aroma installers
Choices of radios

One can dream, can't they

Nothing wrong with optimism.

Maybe if/when telstra release an ICS update we will have all these things. Until then it's a wait for a dev that can build radios, firmware and boot images.

I'm also wIring for this day. I like the speed of this phone. It can only get better with ICS!

Can't a fellow dev grab another dev from a related phone/forum and get them in on fixing tihs issue? Good to see the process is coming along though ecips. Keep up the good work to everyone who is still trying!

For those who find a solution and can share it with me once fully tested; im willing to give somone a small donation for their efforts!

i for one would be happy to help out a bit financially for any devs time that can solve the issue... but yes this phone is a great piece of kit! very responsive and fast, thats why I'm so impatient waiting to be able to use it properly again

I had a play with ICS on the S1 and its super smooth compared with how GB ran on the same hardware

least you can see bwp85, that I have my dreams :p

This phone will be worth sticking with, it has probably the most potential of all the 4G phones out in Aus atm, Id say

The HTC is nice, but its too chunky for me

If i can get my dev machine up and going (Im just missing a few bits for it), then I'm gunna look at getting the source code for it and starting to see whats in it

    Ok Guys

As we had a realy long delay between updates now, caused by a lot issues we got while getting CM10.1 to run.
The last weeks realy got anyoing while i focused new issues each day.
like the anoying in-call-audio issue (people present on irc know what i'm talking about)

I have several weeks of work in patching, merging and fixing behind me.
And finaly can say we have a build up and running wich could be called "stable" or "dayly driver".

the past was also a hard time for some Testers like Sfynx and oc74ne also nutterpc on irc,
i want to say thank you again for all your bugreports/testing/patient etc !!
Also big thx to teamchopsticks for support on irc!

Finaly i'm proud to announce the first stable and public CM10.1 Build for the GT-I9210T.
Also we have a stable Custom Kernel avaible for CM10.1 wich offers Overclocking/Undervolting and some other nice tweaks.

Both Downloads the ROM and Kernel can be found on my Download Thread/Download Center wich is already updated!
Also i have added latest TWRP Recovery release to the thread i'm suggesting everyone to update!

I hope u enjoy the hard work we have done over the last weeks and respect it as well!

    best regards :)

Here's the link to my JB4.1.2 ROM. It's rooted, deodexed and has busybox and custom boot animations installed. I've debloated it a bit, could do with some more though. While I say 'my' JB4.1.2 it's really just the i727 ROM from Sammobile with a custom kernel that has been compiled for our devices and some other tweaks as listed.

You don't need to install the Kernel separately if your using my ROM.

It appears to be working well, though you'll need to make sure that you're running the latest baseband (LP4). Chances are you'll have between no carrier and intermittent carrier problems if you run with LP3, not sure about anything below that. Had a real bugger of a time finding a RIL/modem combination that worked.

I'm using TWRP from Tallastus's download page to install, 2.4.3 I think. It installs it OK but has problems creating backups.

Make sure you wipe system, data and cache.

First boot takes a while so be patient, under 5 mins on my phone though if you're wondering. If it sits on the blue samsung screen that might be a problem, reboot and see what happens. If it's sitting on the boot animation then wait, should take about 90-120 seconds.

I'm not forcing you to install it - it works perfectly well on my phone and I've flashed it 30 times in the past few days with no problems - doesn't mean it'll work for you. If you have any problems I will try to help but it's your responsibility not mine. BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP

    Hope someone finds it useful

finaly managed to get a first booting cm10.1 Android 4.2.1 compile

Many things already working but still a lot of issues to work on like random reboots etc
but we are a step closer to a working 4.2.1 build for the GT-I9210T

Have you shared your stuff yet or still just telling people how awesome it is with no information about it?
