It's the deal breaker for me. Will the G4 like the G2 and G3 have a locked bootloader? The phone itself looks great but if LG do this again, they can forget it.
I am afraid now a days you will have to look at the M9 or Nexus if you want an unlocked boot loader. Of course it will just be a matter of time before that will be bypassed like on the G2 & G3.It's the deal breaker for me. Will the G4 like the G2 and G3 have a locked bootloader? My Note 4 came with an unlocked bootloader and my Z2 last year was unlockable. I had the G3 for a month and gave up with it as it took too long for a work around.I am afraid now a days you will have to look at the M9 or Nexus if you want an unlocked boot loader. I am pretty sure it is a decision made by the carrier.I was talking about an across the board unlocked, not dependent on variant/carrier, etc. Those two are the only ones besides any "Google Play Edition" phones, which I haven't seen with the current generation,by which are going to be factory unlocked. Good luck in your search.

Isn't that for the SIM unlock and not the boot loader unlock? Two different things.
Well, I won't buy one until we have definitive proof it can be unlocked. The fact you don't have total control of a product you own and buy is crazy.
could you guys with the g4 try stump root because jcase reported that lg had accidentally undone the patchon some devices
If you guys are comparing locked bootloader in the G4 to the G2, please note the G2 was rooted and had development going almost immediately.
Nothing to worry about too much

Good to know, thank you.Actually, that is for bootloader unlock. It is a feature of lollipop. I am surprised to see it outside of nexus however. Checking that option does not unlock your bootloader, rather it is a security setting to allow the process to happen. With Nexus, you must check this option before you can use "fastboot oem unlock". It has also been the cause of many soft and hard bricks on the Nexus 6.
Just curious, why do you think rooting the G4 will take a while? As you say, the S6 got rooted quickly and LG seems more root friendly than Samsung.
I'm hoping for an unlockable bootloader and quick root on the G4. Planning to buy OEM of T-Mobile unit outright.
I msg Autoprime and he replied that they have root only waiting to get a G4. So as soon as its official available, I think root will possible. But seriously having G4 a few days I can stay without root xD. I only want to get rid of many Google's bloatwares.Just curious, why do you think rooting the G4 will take a while?
