Update 27.08. : C432.150 now available, tested on BLA-L29 C432
Hi,
@trojjacker postet a guide about how to use FF to update even newer versions. He kindly allowed me to use his guide to create this thread so that everyone will be able to update using FirmwareFinder again.
This process can be repeated for every approved OTA. Tested so far on BLA-L29C432: Upgrade from 142-145 and 145 to 148 and ALP-L09C432.
Known issues:
I hope I can spread the word of FF working again with this rather complicated workaround. Again, many thanks to @trojjacker for pointing it out.

Hi,

- I will not be held responsible for any damage you might cause to your device. If you previously updated you phone with unlocked bootloader (like with HWOTA8), first check the xloader version of your current firmware before updating. More help: xloader checking tool thread
[*]Please read the instructions carefully, before you report any problems. There are some known issues listed below.
[*]This is using the manual DNS method of FirmwareFinder and it only works with the smaller OTA Updates (must be approved) so far.
- Uninstall HiSuite on your computer and delete the HiSuite app on your phone (under "apps"), restart both devices
- Install this version on you computer: HiSuite 5.0.2.300
- Install the corresponding version of HiSuite App on your phone: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/huawei/hisuite/hisuite-5-0-2-300_ove-release/hisuite-5-0-2-300_ove-android-apk-download/
- Download Firmware Finder, check for updates that are approved (only these will work, just like the old days).
- Only the smaller OTAs work, (NOT the FullOTA!!!) For BLA-L29C432 this is 148 (156372) from July 25th, around 550MB (today is 17.08.2018)
- Go to "get an update through DNS" and select "manually" - make sure you are connected to the same network as your computer, write down the DNS and tap "register update"
- On your computer: Go to your network adapter settings (Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center -> Change Adapter Settings -> double click adapter -> change properties) change from Auto DNS to the FirmwareFinder DNS as your primary IPv4 DNS
- deactivate IPv6 by unticking it in adapter properties
- Connect the phone to your computer and start HiSuite. Put the connection type of the phone to "data" and not to "charging only". Activate USB debugging mode in developer options. Be careful not to accept the update request of the HiSuite app on your computer. The app wants to upgrade itself to a newer version. This has nothing to do with the update of the phone. If you accidentally accept the update you have to start over the whole process
- Once the connection is established click on "update" inside the HiSuite app on your computer and now the update should start downloading. Ignore the version HiSuite displays for the update - it's a wrong number.
- Don't forget to put all the DNS settings on your network connection back to "auto" and default again
This process can be repeated for every approved OTA. Tested so far on BLA-L29C432: Upgrade from 142-145 and 145 to 148 and ALP-L09C432.
Known issues:
- Wired Ethernet connection (LAN cable) causes HiSuite to state "no internet connection". Use a laptop with WiFi to fix this.
- FullOTA does not work. Only use approved small OTA Updates
- USB debugging/ HiSuite HDB is blocked by an app. First, try to disable and enable again USB debugging and then HDB permisssion. If this does not help, it mot likely means an app with "draw over other apps" permission is active and blocking it. This could be any app like Navigation bar, Facebook Messenger, the XDA navigation gestures, etc. Revoke this permission for all apps in question. (Settings -> Apps & Notifications -> Apps -> Settings -> Special Access -> draw over other apps -> Three dots -> show system processes-> look for apps that are likely to be active right now)
- You are presented a choice between a developers version and another version. Only use the smaller OTA, not FullOTA
- If you are using any VPN services turn it off, since FF wont be able to detect your connection after registering the update on their server.
- Since this only works for smaller OTA updates, if you are on an older version update version by version. eg: you are on C432.142, first update to 145 and then to 148.
I hope I can spread the word of FF working again with this rather complicated workaround. Again, many thanks to @trojjacker for pointing it out.
