i just boosted headset volume with no problem
i changed the mixer.path file from level 84 to 88

<ctl name="RX1 Digital Volume" value="90"/>
<ctl name="RX2 Digital Volume" value="90"/>

Is this the values right under the first hphl and hphr? Not that far down from the top of the page.

Do you know what changing rx3-rx8 would change? What made you change rx1 and rx2?

No sound post editing Mixer_paths.xml Nexus 6p

Just a FYI for all, after I replaced my Mixer_Paths.xml and rebooted I had no sound at all.

The cause was the permissions change when you copy the new file over, so go back in ES Explorer, browse to the file and change the permissions to rw-r-r then reboot and you now have sound and higher headphone volume.

It's easier to just open the file with a text editor in android and change it than to copy the file to SD, change it with your computer, put it back on SD and copy it back.

Is the boosting headphone volume, or in-call volume? I'm interested in making in-call volume louder.

I'm stumped on this method. I'm somewhere between n00b and intermediate when it comes to rooting, but I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I rooted via "systemless root" and I am not able to modify the mixer_paths.xml file and save it. It will not let me. Could this be because I somehow ended up with read-only on system? Can anyone please help? This mod was literally the only reason I rooted and unlocked the bootloader on my 6p and now I'm regretting my decision :(

    I only want to boost the audio for headphones, speakers sound is good and I don't want to change it. Does this mood modifies only sound for headphones right?

    Correct, headphones only.

    Update:

    Just rooted and edited the file. went up to 88 and it is a real difference using my Audio-Technica ATH-M50x's! Finally have the sound i feel it should have had from the start. not im going to unroot. This is the only this i need root for on this phone. I will just do this with every month update.

    I have try this before and it works find but after a update the “mixer.path” file would go back to stock. So now I use the ElementalX Kernel instead of modifying the mixer path. With ElementalX, you can increase the volume of your 6p and you can also increase the intensity of the vibration on the 6p, which is too low for me. You can also do lots of other things with the Kernel app manager.:good::good::good:
