I have a 845 Galaxy S9 and I don't have a problem.

On Pie, what's the best way to record then?
I am using following settings and even though it's not an ideal but somewhat still usable. 845 Galaxy S9 on 9.0.
Microphone,
WAV, Tx 50%, Rx 800%, Stero
What would be the optimal settings? Would be interesting if @skvalex can bake them into the app.

I am using ver 3.0.5 on my rooted infinix zero 5 x603 mediatek running nougat the default setting voice communication the voice of the other side is too low when I change the voice source to voice call uplink+down link and volume control to 200 it recorded the voice clearly on both sides but the apk keeb crashing and always keep stoping any fix for my prob

I'd happily pay full price for whatever non-playstore version of this app you release due to Google's call log ban as my way of supporting you as a developer who makes an infinitely useful app for us all.

However, I am seeing a weird issue where I get duplicate entries for every recorded call within Call Recorder and only one of those entries is playable in the internal player. When I browse to the voix folder on external SD, I see two files with one ending in .crtemp extension. I gave it an hour to see if the .crtemp file gets removed but it stays there.
This does not happen when using internal SD card as recording destination. I am on Pie OS. Any ideas @skvalex?

On xiaomi mi a1 rooted pie does not work
With standard api records only my voice, with root does not record, tried all settings combination
Installed the latest version and the app for root
Maybe someone can tell the proper settings

Please, try the attached version. Select Standard API recording method and enable "Switch ALSA controls" in Settings > Recording > Standard API
hi，skvalex.my phone is nokia x5(5.1plus),mtk p60,9.0pie,root,records voice small.
Select Standard API is ok one the 8.1,but Select Standard or root it's the same voice small
I've just updated Call Recorder ROOT in the OP up to 2.0.4 version. Now if you convert it to a system app, then the attached version of the app will able to record calls just like the system app: most likely from the line.
* You can use App Systemizer Magisk module to convert Call Recorder ROOT to a system app.
* If the app got system privileges, then you'll see a star before audio source in Settings > Recording > Standard API, just like on the attached screenshot
This might be helpful on devices where ROOT recording method fails. Especially, on Android 9.

New version in the OP:
version 2.0.5:
- renamed to Call Recorder Add-on as it might work without root for option "start recording on answer" if you grant READ_LOGS permission via adb (exact command in the OP)
- created Magisk module for easier installation and getting privileged permissions
Why not publish the module to the Magisk repo? [emoji4]

Call Recorder - SKVALEX is intended for automatic call recording. The app provides functionality to record both sides on devices with such support. But some devices don't have 2-way call recording support, or have issues with Bluetooth recording.
Also, the app provides wide functionality to manage recordings:
- Search recordings
- Conversion from one format to another (e.g WAV to FLAC/OPUS/MP3/etc.)
- Adding notes to recorded files
- In-call control button while call recording: you can easily start/stop recording during a call
- Enter to the app using password (or fingerprint)
- Auto clean-up - automatically removes old recordings according to rules set by you. Starred recordings ignored.
- Exceptions: you may set up phone numbers, contacts or groups for specific actions, like always record or do not
- Filename template: you can easily change structure of created files
- Cloud backup support
- Playback recording over main speaker or handset speaker
- Access recording from within contact info
- Call confirm: the app will ask you whether you want to make a call or not
- After call actions dialog: the app will ask what to do with a recorded call
- Vibrate on call start/end
If you want to get option "start recording on answer" work without root, then you'll need to grant READ_LOGS permission to the app via adb:
Note, that you may need to manually enable logger in engineering menu (or anywhere else where your device manufacturer disabled it). Today I got the attached email from Google. The app is banned from the Play Store. I sent appeal, waiting a reply from Google. Hope they'll allow to reinstate the app. I think the issue was because of linking to AlsaMixer: https://github.com/skvalex/alsamixer

Google won't reinstate the app.
But I still can publish the app to the Play Store as a new one. So I'm working on it now. It gonna be a free trial app + another app to unlock the full version. I'll create an apk which will unlock the full version for people who have already purchased the app. So they won't have to pay for the app again. Also, I have to remove all root functions from the app which gonna be on the Play Store. So another apk with root functions will be on the xda.311.
