This is my first work on android develop, And sorry for I am not good at english.
This kernel can auto root your phone and disable sony ric(write protection),set selinux to permissive(in some case, this kernel can not set to enforce)
And needs bootloader unlocked!!! I have tested on my E6553 HK version.
The download file is a boot.zip ,extract it and flash via " fastboot flash boot boot.img "

And now I have Made a E6533 (Z3+ Dual)auto root kernel, but my phone is E6553 I am not sure if there is any bugs...

Thank you very much for the root!

Just a quick question, In another thread I'm following they say something about losing DRM key forever which will result in decrease quality in the pictures and phone performance. Did you guys experience any of that? Thank you all for the help!

Hi all I have the E6533 and would like to root my XZ3+ as well. Can someone outline the steps for how to do this if you're a "noob" with rooting a Sony? I see the fastboot command to run once you've extracted the boot.img file from the zip but would feel a bit more comfortable if anyone can quickly write a summarize step by step process on how to do this. Please don't throw tomatoes and thank you all for any help. :)

Hi @Devries,

Thanks for this - it's working well.

Could you provide us with a link to your source code, or at least the modifications you made to the stock source. I can see the changes you made to the ramdisk by extracting it from the image, but I'd be interested in what you did to the kernel to get it working too.

Thanks,

Does anyone know how to update to the latest version without losing data after we flash this kernel? (The one with the stagefright fixes)

a kernel (on the kernel partition)will not fix stagefright issues.

You need better libraries (on the system partion).

devries made a boot partition.

I assume he copied my work (source in the Z4 tablet forum).

This might work:
flash a new ROM with stagefright fixes (none available today)
flash an insecure boot image like selfmade or devries if you trust him
root the decice (my sources on Z4 tablet forum)
reflash the boot partion of the new ROM (you might have to work on the ramdisk)

Before someone asks;
I will not do the work for you.
I will not make a video.
I will not post binaries. I posted sources. SONY posted kernel sources.

This is scary stuff. You should know what you are doing and how to recover a device.

https://github.com/DevriesL/E6553_ImageBreaker that is my kernel source code, but in these auto-root kernel I provided before,I just disable RIC and SELinux , after I find that bug some root apps doesn't work well , I have revert a lot of commits ....

Thanks,

And what toolchain did you use to compile? When I compile my resulting zImage is different to yours (although exactly the same size), and it won't boot. I can't seem to work out why, so I though maybe the toolchain...
