For those of you wondering, there's no way to tell how much battery you have left on your bluetooth headphones with the Galaxy s8. There are a few apps in the app store that "try" to display this information but they're either unreliable or inaccurate. C'mon Samsung!!

Are you sure it is down to just the phone? I have a battery meter show up on connection to one Bluetooth Speaker (Anker Classic) but nothing on a different one (JAM heavy Metal).

Isn't this more of an Android issue? I remember this being discussed on Reddit before. There's no API (or something) that makes it easy to port the battery information from devices without a dedicated app. Granted, Sammy does introduce a lot of its own software but my suspicion is that if they did do this, they'd limit it to their own devices and brands they own.

This is one area where iOS is superior.

Incorrect. Samsung bt devices do because they have a custom api. Only since nougat does Android itself have a std battery api.

It's not adopted because Google slept while Apple standardized. Haye the fruit but it's Wgat they do well.

It will be years before we see many devices with the API inbuilt.

If you use as I use Samsung Level U headphones you CAN see battery status. Samsung even has app for Level U headphones.

Can't say I have ever had a use for something like this. Most bluetooth headphones i've had lasted an age and I charged them at set intervals. No battery level status required.
The iphone generation has a lot to answer for. Apple has convinced everyone they need things like apps to tell them how to live, readouts to tell them how much battery their peripherals have, apps to teach you how to sleep now it seems too.

Thank you biffwitch. Can't believe this is even a legitimate issue.
Just give your BT peripherals a quick charge at regular intervals and use your best judgement to guesstimate the total charge if you have to. Why in the world do you need absolute pinpoint accuracy battery level info for a set of BT headphones? Most BT headphones have a battery level indicator on them as it is.

Good god... At the very least don't act as if this 'feature' is a MUST HAVE for a flagship phone. If anyone cared, it likely would have been implemented.

Yup, I'm missing that too. My friends' Huawei Mate 8 supports showing the battery of bluetooth devices. On the S7 the bluetooth battery status didn't even work with a custom ROM...
