The point i'm making is that the Motorola and Nokia make lovely devices, sort out there support issues, and you have lovely hardware, add on Google Nexus, and then you'll have a high quality phone with Google AOSP. perfect.

HTC make okish phones, but there aesthetics never pleased my eyes.

My disgust comes from the fact Samsung have dropped support for the Nexus, far earlier than the SGS2. most of it doesn't bother me, but surely google should pull there finger out a little quicker. especially since the devs here and elsewhere have effectively pushed android into the market and made android what it is today. Sure the manufacturers have made there own overlay but have any of them made any real improvements?

Touchwiz is far too cartoony for me
Sense is bloatware
Xperia is the iphone of the android world in my opinion
LG i can't even be bothered to comment on as there awful.
and Motorola I played with briefly in CPW and it crashed.

Android really should be AOSP, or even a blend of MIUI and Android.
this would make the phone much more user friendly to the average consumer.

Nexus should be the real Flagship phone are Android and it should be the best phone and supported longest from hardware to software...

While im sorta sad that there wont be a 32gb and no further accessories by Samsung it still wont stop 3rd party vendors to produce for this phone accessory wise. I have seen better accessories on Japanese sites and other vendor sites while Samsung took their time to launch certain things. It may be a deal breaker for some people but Im still glad i have a future proof phone. Even though i will jump ship for the SGS3 lol, i still may keep this one as a backup. Still kind of debating on getting a white one since i have been going caseless for the last couple days. The development is here so i think we should be fine. If the 32gb is canceled US only per say it wouldnt be a problem for some of us to get it imported. I dunno :D

I'd say Google should go back to HTC - agree that Moto and Nokia would be fails (Nokia less so as their hardware is actually quite good)

HTC's design is soooooooooo tired. Every single phone they release looks like a slight derivative of the HD2.

Samsung is the only Android manufacturer making good, sexy hardware right now IMO.

TO ALL THE CLOUD PEOPLE!

Not usually one to rant but I need to here. What scares me about this is the larger picture. Data plans are getting smaller and more expensive and at the same time storage is getting smaller, which will force you to use a cloud service. So for all the music, etc. that you already own you will have to stream it and use up part of your data plan. That's what really scares me, it's like getting taxed twice. Your using data to get the song but it doesn't end there, now you have to use data every time you listen to it. This all boils down to the carriers making a lot of money off of stuff you own. What's next? 8GB phones and $50 per GB data plans in 5 years? I'm all for companies making a profit, I'm conservative and definitely not an occupy movement type but i see potential disaster for the consumer here. Who knows, hopefully this isn't a trend but for all the good things about a cloud, when combined with an expensive data plan it can be really bad for the consumer. I'll keep my content locally thank you. Not to mention all the downfalls of a cloud service, battery drain, losing signal, etc.

What's really disappointing is this entire issue can be avoided with expandable memory. Feels like we are going backwards.

Edit: Made a separate thread for this.

And that sums up what companies are doing to make some extra dough. It doesn't surprise me at all that this is happening.

They are given the task of making the flagship Android device for Google & then seemingly lose interest in it a short while later. Let's hope someone else manufacturers their next flagship device is all I can say.

I enjoy the Samsung hate when they probably couldn't have dropped it without Google's approval. Manufacturing contracts and all.
Google has to protect its new acquisition...

I love my phone. Seems to be a bunch of hatred for not much reason.

Unless of course, those reasons were on the list of why someone decided to plunk down $700 on a phone.

I really think I'm going back to Apple and ditching the Android experiment. Apple at least supports their products for a period of time and they have a robust accessory ecosystem.

I'm sorry but I'm not going to be in a position where a manufacturer announces products and then quietly says to itself, "We'll see how many we sell before delivering on the promises." At $60 a pop even if they're not very profitable (!) they can't be losing money on the darned things.

I use a dock, I don't like fidgeting with the micro USB connector for charging all of the time. I wanted the car mount to use it as a GPS and get it in a reasonable hands free location for me to use. I bought the phone because they announced these accessories. And later they decide that they weren't going to deliver.

There's no way I'll buy another Samsung phone with the intent to use it the way I want to and hope the phone will be successful enough for them to consider producing the announced accessories for it. If this was a $30 purchase I'll eat it. Not on a $700 purchase though. No way.

Samsung: You don't have the LUXURY of having a third party accessory ecosystem. You MUST provide these accessories yourself. If you don't people will go somewhere else. I am.

What kind of extras do You really need?
We have extra battery + back cover,HDMI, 3rd party car holders(Active Brodit).
For extra memory when You need You can use an OTG adapter and mem sticks.
Do You need more?
I have up to 3 days of usage on my phone with the extended battery and the phone was to thin before...
I run GummyNex

For me, I put what accessories I "need" in my post. Desktop dock and car dock. If you're going to suggest I don't really "need" them - that's true. I don't really "need" the phone in the first place.

With the promise of these accessories Samsung successfully separated myself and $700 of my money. They won't be successful in the future which will end up costing them many thousands.

The other accessories you list don't hold any interest for me. It's just the difference in how I use the phone and how you use it.

I hope Google goes with Motorola and has enough influence with their new purchase to do the next Nexus right. Galaxy Nexus is a good phone, I like it, but Samsung did half ass a few things and definitely is more interested in it's own Galaxy S line than this Nexus.

Hope the next Nexus is done in-house with Google/Motorola.

This is what I hope for also. That would be the ultimate combination, a pure Google phone with Motorola radios and hardware. I also hope it's a world phone that can be used on all carriers. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if Verizon never got another Nexus phone again though. I'm getting it either way.

I've always liked the nexus line of phones and this one had been sort of a disaster for consumers. I love my CDMA Gnex but was hoping for a 32GB GSM model to come out, just in case. Not releasing all the accessories is disappointing also.I wonder if the desk dock will ever be available for the U.S. version. If not I have the Seidio dock which I like.

I still have my D1 and when it was in service used it as my alarm clock via the media dock. Was REALLY hoping for one for my SGNex... looks like I got a bum steer on this one. And what was all this awhile ago about Google pulling it from the dev site completely over the Verizon spat pertaining to Wallet?

I do have to give them points for marketing though... the Samsung presentation w/Google for the galaxy nexus made it look like the starship enterprise vs space shuttle atlantis. Everything seemed as if this was THE new age for android and the perfect device to experience it.

But... 32G on the sucker and after everything I have dumped I still only using 2% LOL. Couldnt have done that with my D1 on its best day.

Well I already have the 16gb version so there's no way I'm shelling out again for the 32gb model but it would have been nice. Like others have said, its disappointing that they have canned accessories for Google's flagship phone. I love this phone just as I loved my nexus s and clunky g1 before that (had a few phones between the g1 and s as well). I'll keep this awesome phone till next year when hopefully a Motorola nexus comes out and give this one to my wife as I did with my nexus s. What's the point in having Motorola other than for patents if they at least won't make a developer phone with them? They would have more input on the phone and would possibly be cheaper. If the razr Max was a gsm model with an unlocked boot loader I may have purchased that instead. Motorola makes great built phones and their accessories are amazing. Omap is actually my favorite soc and it won't matter games wise because EVERY major chip maker other than nvidia is going to use the powervr gpu. I read the other day that Samsung and qualcomm both inked contracts with imagination tech to use their gpus in the future. It just makes sense. They perform the best and that would mean apple, Samsung, qualcomm, and TI will have the same basic graphics drivers. More of the same games across platforms.

Make it in the maxx form factor (3000mah battery) with quad core, a powervr >543+, omap pentaband, nfc, 720p screen minus pentile, 1.5gb+ ram, and a memory card slot, and call it a day. Add all those wonderful Motorola accessories and you would have a hands down nexus winner. The only problem would be that it would be so good, power users wouldn't buy any of the other Android phones.

I would guess the 16GB was probably barely worth selling so devoting line space to a 32GB version wasn't worth it. Outside of geeks it's not a popular device.

The 16gb was the top selling device on Expansys NZ at one point. Now I'm glad I didn't wait it out for the 32gb. THough I do feel kinda cheated. 16gb is a limitation, if anything; I'm one of those people who don't stream music; the quality is never anything special, my connection is bad 99% of the time and I don't even have a data plan. FLAC is the only way for me to go, really. You can imagine the consequences.

I don't see how it's any less popular than it's predecessors. I have owned all three and this is the best in my opinion.

Stop saying it's a developer phone. It is not. Google has been advertising it to the general public in many high profile media channels, and it definitely never said 'developer phone expect problems' anywhere in the creative or spots.

This developer phone argument needs to stop.

While this is pretty surprising I just don't think that high of a % of people really need more than 16gb of storage.

I might be a bit of a fringe case on the other side, but I've yet to use more than 5gb on my phone (including the OS). Been using the phone for a few weeks now and have 11.3gb free. Even if you're an app and music fanatic, there is no situation in which you'll need 15gb of media on the device at any given time.

I get having to remove things to sideload a movie or two is annoying, but who does that on a regular basis, really?

On devices like the iPhone that widely offer 16gb, 32gb and 64gb models I'd venture to guess somewhere in the 85% of sales are of the 16gb.

Hmm. Don't know. I watched the entire GN launch and I can't remember them going on for hours to an audience of developers talking about all of the new APIs and how to call them.

    snip...

Truth. Again, I love Android and what Google has accomplished, but the apologist attitude towards these real and annoying problems is strange.
